Often we think of culture as those things that we can easily see about a person or a group of people: what they wear, what language they speak, what food they eat, what religious holidays they celebrate. But a lot of what makes up culture is hidden to us, or we have to work and ask questions to understand it. Work ethic, the roles that a person plays in their family, what “clean” looks like, or what a person expresses through their facial expressions and body language are shaped by our cultural backgrounds. Culture is more than what we often see and plays a complex role in shaping our beliefs and our behaviour.
